| The 4 C’s : The 4 C’s concept
used to be considered as the guidelines of grading a diamond. But these factors
are incomplete to derive a rational pricing of Diamond hence our team
of experts at Venus Jewel have realized
an importance of the additional parameters mentioned below As per VGS all of these mentioned above form a part of perfect grading decision. Now the meaning of all of the above is explained below with charts showing how it affects the price of a diamond. Clarity is the science of determining how the impact of the inclusion left by Mother Nature effect the beauty, durability, and price of a diamond. Thanks to nature that every diamond is unique and inhomogenous. The number and type of inclusion found in a non-homogenous diamond will influence what shape the diamond will ultimately take and whether it will be of a gem quality or of industrial quality. The clarity is determined by using a 10X - eye loupe, Binocular microscope and a trained eye to interpret, what has been set forth- by the VGS as categories for clarity characteristics. There are two types of imperfections in the diamond internal and external. Now, depending on all these a diamond is graded for its clarity, which can range anywhere between FL ( Flawless ) and I5 . Now Venus Jewel has gone a step ahead by narrowing the difference between the purity of say SI1 and SI2. If a piece is such that it is SI1 but a bit better in it, it is given the grade of SI1+ by VGS. If it is such that it seems to be SI1 but a little weak in it, then it is given the purity of SI1-. Thus, for the convenience of the customer, we give piece descriptions in such a way which is easy for them to judge, as its work of checking has been done whether a piece is towards the better or lower side of a particular grade!! Also by this procedure it sees through it that no injustice is done to any person by giving him / her a stone of a weaker purity. The chart below shows the grading as per VGS, with the points in red showing Venus Jewel's additional grading points.
The Color of a diamond is a very important factor affecting the look and cost of a diamond. More colorless a diamond, greater is its price. In Venus Jewel, higly skilled sorters, with the help of master stones, grade color to offer consistent grading.
The cut is one of the most important attributes of a diamond as it is the only factor which is achieved by human skill. The precision and delicacy with which a diamond is cut determines its brilliance, its ' fire ' and its ultimate beauty. At Venus Jewel, the cut proportions are measured using high-tech latest machines, which give you an exact proportion of each parameter and symmetry. Diamonds are classified categorically as per the specifications described by our Study and Analysis Department in to the following
People tend to think of a diamond in terms of its weight, such as a quarter carat, three quarter carat, half carat or one carat. Not surprisingly, but people do tend to think of the value of your diamond, or how much you spent on it, by your answer on how much it weighs. A diamond weight can be expressed in several ways. One carat diamond weighs 100 cents (.20 gram). These can be expressed in size, pointers or pieces per carat ranges.
This is another parameter, which has been found of importance in determining the exact purity of the diamond. The amount of light that the stone reflects and the type of light that is emitted by the stone determine lustre of a diamond. The lustre is of various
types depending on the light produced by the diamond.
6. Polish : A diamond's polish is an indication of the care taken by the artisan. The better the polish, the brighter and more lustrous the stone. Here too, we have four grades viz., Polish rate excellent, very good, good or fair.
7. Symmetry : Symmetry describes several factors of a diamond including how the facet edges are aligned with one another, whether the diamond facets of either sides match, and whether the facets of the top portion of the diamond are aligned with corresponding facets in the bottom portion. Symmetry should be graded as Excellent, Very Good or Good.
This is another important factor that helps a person in taking decision about the value of a diamond. Fluorescence refers to the natural glow of blue or yellow color in the stone under ultra violet light. The value of the diamonds varies as per the impact of fluorescence. At Venus, fluorescence is measured on a scale of 0-4 with 4 being the strongest, and 0 being for none.
This term explains the effect and position of inclusion in centre of the diamond compared to total inclusions in the diamond. Effect of Centre Inclusion is minimum when centre is clean and it gradually increases to heavy inclusion at the centre.
This term is used to indicate
the black inclusion in the diamond
This term explains the effect
of surface opens in the diamond which may include
Shape appeal is another novel
concept introduced by Venus Jewel. Irrespective of the make, shape appeal
indicates the looks of the diamond. Shape appeal is graded as
